Marist Life February 2014

With Pope Francis breathing new energy into the leadership of our Church, we appreciate what he is saying about about Catholic Education.  A new document focusing on a particular area of Catholic Education has just been published by the Congregation for Catholic Education in Rome. It has been some years in preparation and is titled 'Educating for Intercultural Dialogue in Catholic Schools  Living in Harmony for a Civilisation of Love', It can be downloaded here.

On Sunday 26th January, Australia Day, Br Justin Guthrie and his community invited us to Fitzroy to celebrate the occasion.  It was a fine evening.  There we met Philip Davydov, who along with his wife Olga Shalamova are master icongraphers.  They live and work in St Petersburg, Russia.  Philip stayed at Fitzroy from the 9th to 26th January.  As a token of appreciation for the hospitality they received, Philip created this beautiful icon of the Annunciation which he gave to the community.  Philip's Email address is phildavydov@yahoo.com  His work can be found at the Sacred Murals Studio website at http://sacredmurals.com/iconographers_muralists.htm

At this time, former Samaritan College staff member, Max Caruso took a new position as Lead Coach with The Australian College of Higher Education. The College runs a program for teenagers not at school who are seeking support with their literacy, numeracy and writing called 2Cool4School.
